Becoming a Student

Becoming a Student at Mark Kislingbury Academy of Court Reporting Staff

There are several options available for attending Mark Kislingbury Academy of Court Reporting (MKA). Please review the following choices carefully to determine which status best suits your needs.

We highly recommend the onsite in-class option, as our accelerated teaching approach benefits greatly from the collaborative environment of physical classrooms. Being present at the academy provides students with immediate support from both peers and faculty, making it easier to stay accountable for dedicating the necessary time to learning and study.

Onsite Student

Our classes are held from Monday to Friday in the morning, and attendance is mandatory for all sessions, including Theory, Academics, and Speed Building. For the class schedule, please visit the Schedule page on our website.

If you choose to be an onsite student, you will attend classes at our Houston, Texas location.

Online-Live Student

An online-live student is an individual who does not reside near our onsite location and participates via live stream during scheduled class days and times from a location of their choice, such as home or a public library. For details on class times, please visit the Schedule page on our website.

Students commencing their studies in Theory may only enroll as online-live students during Fall quarters. Those transferring into Speed Building can begin as online students in any quarter.

Online Non-Live Student

An online non-live student is defined as an individual who does not attend live class sessions and instead opts to view recorded class videos of the day’s session. Students in this category are responsible for managing their own viewing schedules and completing assignments independently.

The onsite and online-live class terms commence in September each year. If you wish to enroll at any other time during the year without waiting for September, you may choose to become an online non-live student. As an online non-live student, you can begin the program at the start of any quarter following the completion of the enrollment process.
